  How can twelve years olds get baptized? it is crazy!

  my daughter's step child is getting baptized at the ripe old age of 12.. my sil is angry and i feel he should try and stop it through the courts, but they feel that would make his ex more determined for baptism to go ahead.. this child has no idea of the mistake they are making .

  would she get married at 12?.

  it is so sad and irresponsible for a child to take this step.. .

  You hit a hot button issue for me!! My son is 17 and not baptized, before I started fading (about 2 months ago) an elder asked me why he wasn't, and said they would like to use him in the congrigation. I told him pretty much what I have seen in the post so far, that it is suppose to be a lifelong dedication and that we would not be encouraging him to marry that young. Would you believe this elder told me "well, it can serve as a protection". I about hit the floor!! I told him to show me in the bible where is says to get baptized for a protection. Then I reiterated that the only reason to getbaptized according to the borg was because you already made a dedication and want to symbolize it.

  My suggestion would be get the 12 year old a pet and tell him/her to feed the pet every day for a year (prove that they know what dedication is) then they can get baptized. I gaurantee that child will not feed that pet every day. In fact, by that standard they will probably be well into their 20's before getting baptixed.

  Born Gay?

  hi everyone, just wondering what your thoughts are on people that say they are born gay?

  ive heard that this isnt actually possible, and that there is no scientific backing to it, im personaly not gay but i was just wondering what some of you think on this matter, and if you have anything to back it up with, thanks,.

  I did not choose to be attracted to women, I just am. And I know that there are some people who don't choose to like men, they just do. Then there are others that do choose that lifestyle. I had a friend in the borg who was a non practicing gay man. I had many conversations with him and he told me that if he could choose that he would choose not to be gay, but he felt that he was gay from birth. from as far back as he could remember he knew he was gay. So yes, even though there is not scientific that proves someone can be born gay, I do believe that you can.

  just wondering, did anyone else come up with a good way to dodge that question?.

  Hi all,

  I had a boat that I always wanted to name "Return Visits" that way whenever I was asked why I wasn't in field service on Saturday I could respond, "I went out on return visits" and nobody would be the wiser.

  Just wondering, did anyone else come up with a good way to dodge that question?

  that is what my mom told me when i got bit by a brown recluse spider.. i was in ohio, visiting my daughter and my mom was there trying to convert me back.

  she even said if i go back, we would get custody of my daughter..... well....i drove myself there from ks and somehow had gotten bitten right before i left.

  it was right between my eyes, and my head started swelling up on the way there.

  What is it that so powerfully possesses the JW mind? It is Ecc 12 "time and unforseen circumstances" if it happens to a JW, but punishment if it happens to anyone else.

  I don't see it as punishment for anybody, the fact that most JW's do reinforces, to me, that they don't recognize the truth from the bible.

  when firmly entrenched in the borg i complained to my wife that friendships in the "truth" didn't seem as real as i noticed worldly people had.

  for instance, the worldly person i worked with was constantly doing things with friends, whether it was going to ball games or helping a friend put on a new roof.

  in our circle of friends we could never count on help, our friends were too busy trying to earn a living and doing the borgs bidding.

  When firmly entrenched in the borg I complained to my wife that friendships in the "truth" didn't seem as real as I noticed worldly people had. For instance, the worldly person I worked with was constantly doing things with friends, whether it was going to ball games or helping a friend put on a new roof. In our circle of friends we could never count on help, our friends were too busy trying to earn a living and doing the borgs bidding. In not for the elders, fading for me would be easy. I've not had an invite from a "friend" in the "truth" in over a year. Am I off base or do "worldly" people make better friends? And what does that say for "having love among themselves."?

  Could a JW be disfellowshipped for lack of "Faith"?

  lets say that a jw tells an elder that he prays and nothing happens.

  then he tells the elder, that after praying so often and asking for reasonable things, i don't believe anymore that god answers prayers, because i was honest in my prayer and god didn't grant me what i wanted.

  i was just wondering if an elder could see this as "lack of faith", which then could be a good reason to disfellowship someone.. .

  he added, "You know lack of commenting is a sure sign of spiritual weakness."

  It could also be a sign that a person is shy and hates talking in front of a group.

  It could also be a sign of having nothing to say.

  I hate that all the bad that happens if you leave the Borg is blamed on you leaving. I do believe you reap what you sow....and if I had joined a brown recluse spider cult that believed you should put spiders on your head....maybe I would have thought I deserved it!

  I do believe that you reap what you sow... however, I also believe that time and unforseen occurance befall us all, The spider-onforseen occurance, your daughter-reaping what you sowed.

  Hi Juni: I don't think adultery is something to celebrate. And I don't think using drugs is a healthy way to celebrate anything.
